Festival promoter “Rock Of Ages Entertainment”
are proud to announce their 3rd “Rock Of Ages Fest” will
be held on June Saturday, 20th & Sunday, 21st
in Swansea at the 2,000-capacity facility BARCO 2.
The event, which will again be held indoor, will be bigger in scale
than even “Firefest”, and feature Lauren Harris (daughter of Iron
Maiden legend Steve Harris) as headliner of day one alongside
NWOHBHM icons “Praying Mantis”, fresh from their appearance at “Hard
Rock Hell”.
Day two’s headlining acts include founding member and original
vocalist of Judas Priest, Al Atkins, with his new band “Holy Rage”,
and Massacre Records prog-metal act “Imperia”. All of these bands
are graciously donating their time and talent.
This will be the first festival event that Lauren Harris has
headlined, and it is fitting that it should happen in the UK, and
with a festival that has already boasted a link to Maiden after
Blaze Bayley’s appearance in 2007. Furthermore, Hawkwind’s Alan
Davey will be featured on Bass Guitar for “Gunslinger” appearing on
day two of the event.
Young guns Voodoo Johnson and Fury UK are among the highlights this
year, with Superfox (who have supported Nickelback and Bon Jovi on
Stadium shows) also on the bill. Australian rock chicks Illicit Eve
will appear on the Saturday and Marya Roxx (an Estonian and
American act, whose debut album is being produced by Kevin "Caveman"
Shirley, whose previous works have included Iron Maiden's "Brave New
World") will feature on the Sunday.
The event will again be raising funds for a cancer research charity,
and tickets are on sale via the promoter “Rock Of Ages
Entertainment” (via
www.rock-of-ages.net)
from February 28th and are on sale already via
www.ticketweb.co.uk
at a special earlybird price of just £5 (single day) and £10 (all
weekend). Regular ticket prices (£10/£20) apply after April 20th,
and prices are higher on the door.
A total of 27 bands will be playing across the two days, with the
full line-up including (DAY ONE) Lauren Harris,
Praying Mantis, Voodoo Johnson, Superfox,
Obsidian Rain, Morph, Psycho Baby,
The Infamous, Dirty Voice, Radio Dynamics, Illicit Eve, Headrush,
Tequila Rockingbird,
Rock$tar. (DAY TWO) Imperia, Al
Atkins’ “Holy Rage”, Blind Ambition, Stairway, Achilla, Fury UK,
Marya Roxx, Gunslinger, Psychowrath, Faith N Fury, Snake Eyes,
Decedanze, The Happenin’.
This is going to be a great year for the event organisers, who have
seen a number of avenues open to them which will enable further
development of the event in 2009 and 2010, and the festival is
hoping to have 3 stages by 2010, and an increased capacity. Rock Of
Ages Entertainment are also aiming to extend activities to Western
Canada in 2011, and Los Angeles in 2012, a development that has
already been 12 months in the planning and which is beginning to
bear fruit.
Previous headliners of the event have included Tygers Of Pan Tang,
Girlschool, Waysted, Blitzkrieg (who went on to play Hard Rock Hell)
as well as former Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley. 2007’s “Rock Of
Ages Fest”, held at the 500-capacity “The Palace” in Tamworth also
featured the official Wolfsbane reunion and incredible “Frontiers
Records” signing Dante Fox.
